# Myth → planet remap registry (author / repo / catastrophist)

> **TL;DR:** Canonical place for **assumed reinterpretations** of myth into planetary / sky roles — so essays don’t collide. Primary Arthurian map stays Round Table (Arthur+Merlin = Jupiter aspects; Lancelot = Mars; Once and Future *theme* = Sun). Georgia’s “Western split from George=Mars” is a **second layer** (whitewash slicing), not a replacement of that map. Wget holds source fragments (Talbott polar drafts, Velikovsky WIC, chronologia); **no** prior single remap registry there — this file is that registry.

## Why this file exists

Repo essays were stacking **different eras of meaning** onto the same romance names without saying so:

**Concern (resolved here):** Saying “Arthur = Sun” *instead of* “Arthur = Jupiter” looks like a contradiction. It is not — if labeled by **layer**. Arthur-*character*-during-Round-Table = Jupiter; Arthur-*legend*-as-returning-king = Sun language; Georgia layer adds how whitewash parked **good/Sun-resurrection rhetoric** onto Arthur when slicing the older Mars knight-king (George).

**Jupiter-as-Arthur/Merlin note (author refinement, 2026-07-14):** In the Dark Age, **Jupiter is Arthur and Merlin at once**: crowned / benevolent king and uncrowned / terrible knowledge-keeper. Keep two possible crown mechanisms separate. The timeline’s **Sun-corona crown** requires an eclipse or conjunction and therefore follows **orbital alignment**, not Jupiter’s axial rotation. A localized **coma / anode glow** could conceivably change with rotation if the emitting structure co-rotated, but the corpus does not establish that mechanism or an exact period. The Arthur/Merlin appearance-cycle remains author interpretation; do **not** state “one Jupiter rotation = one Arthur/Merlin alternation” as fact.

## Layer GG — George = Mars unitary knight-king → Western split (author)

**Premise:** St. George sky-myth warrior slot = **Mars**; whitewash strips planet assignment; romance **slices** one knight-king into several names.

**Living entombment / resurrection grammar:** Merlin’s “resurrection” is not only a cinematic dream. Across Malory and Vulgate / Post-Vulgate Merlin traditions, he is enclosed beneath stone or in a cave / tree prison; variants preserve an unseen voice that later knights can hear but cannot free. This is effectively the same mythic grammar as death-and-return: the god is gone from the visible scene but still acts or speaks. In sky terms, **Jupiter permanently left the scene after the Dark Ages ended** — sealed away forever — while literature preserved a voice from the sealed place.

**Checked Malory anchor:** *Le Morte d’Arthur*, Book IV, ch. I says Merlin “came never out” from beneath the great stone; ch. V has Sir Bagdemagus hear him lament and speak, although the stone cannot be lifted. This directly supports **sealed-but-speaking**. Cave / tree forms belong to the wider tradition and should not be attributed to that Malory scene.

**Venus split (author refinement):** Venus is also split by Western moral literature. **Guinevere / Gwenhwyfar** (not Genevieve) is the desirable / good face; **Morgan le Fay / Morgana** is the terrible witch face, while still retaining older healing traces (Avalon, care for wounded Arthur). The split is imperfect because the older Venus was ambivalent before Western good/evil sorting.

**doNotSay:** “Round Table was wrong; Arthur is only the Sun.”  
**doSay:** “Round Table maps the Table-age sky; Georgia names how whitewash reused those romance labels when slicing George=Mars; Sun language on Arthur is Layer OFK / parked resurrection-good.”

## Method lock — comparative sky memory, not Jung

The author **does not subscribe to Carl Jung’s proposals**. This registry does not explain repeated warriors, dragons, kings, witches, or dying gods through a collective unconscious or inherited psychic archetypes. Here **archetype** means a recurring comparative **story-role** only. The project asks whether unusually specific recurrences preserve intelligent eyewitness memory of a changed sky; it does not treat ancestors as childish minds projecting inner drama onto ordinary planets. ## Resolution checklist for writers

1. Name the **layer** (RT / OFK / GG) before assigning Arthur or Merlin a planet.  
2. Prefer **cite Round Table** for Lancelot=Mars and Arthur+Merlin=Jupiter dual.  
3. Use **Sun** for Arthur only as OFK destiny / Georgia parked resurrection-good — never as erasure of RT Jupiter king.  
4. Distinguish **solar corona** (orbital alignment) from a possible **Jupiter plasma glow** (rotation mechanism unproved).  
5. Use **archetype** descriptively, never as an implicit Jungian explanation.  
6. Spell **Arthur**, **Jupiter**, and **permanently** correctly when cleaning author notes.
7. If wget later adds a cleaner planetary-hero catalogue, link it under “What wget already has.”
