On June 24, 2020 at Scottsdale’s “Unmask Us” rally I interrupted a FOX 10 shot of Jacob Chansley and spoiled an attempt to weld Q-Anon onto a MAGA anti-mask protest. Horns and Flat Earth in that frame make ordinary MAGA protesters look illegitimate. On December 3, 2020, McCarthy and Chansley were both inside the Arizona Capitol occupation that press later called a dress rehearsal for January 6. A little over a month later a real deep-state insurrection hit the DC Capitol with Chansley at the center.

## Q clearance — what the letter actually classifies

Real **[Q clearance](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q_clearance)** is a U.S. Department of Energy access category for Restricted Data — nuclear weapons design, fissile handling, the compartmented stack. The letter may be alphabetic accident. The clearance is a real compartment. The public does not get a SIGINT channel or a follower-facing bulletin board attached to it.

What that clearance actually protects is a **half-hoax on Power**. The public is trained to treat nuclear bombs as far more powerful than they are. Depleted uranium — the real proxy threat — is denied or buried. Transformative understanding of what Power would change if the lie cracked is blocked. Mass culture taught the same grammar decades before chan culture branded the clearance onto tripcode drops. Bond’s Q Branch is the state shop that already knows deployable tech the public will not see for decades — gadgets, weapons, vehicles issued to field ops from a compartment the audience never enters. Star Trek’s Q is the other half of the seed: an omniscient figure who knows secrets humans cannot, bends the plot, and leaves the crew arguing the wrong frame. Together they pre-install the same three moves Q-Anon later sold. An insider already knows. You trust the plan. You cannot verify the plot. From its origin on 4chan in October 2017, the anonymous figure Q claimed high-level government clearance and cast Donald Trump as a heroic figure waging a secret war against a global cabal of Satan-worshiping, child-exploiting elites — the **savior narrative**. The point was to **burn people out on Trump**: train them that he is operating largely without a plan, then leave them exhausted when the cartoon fails. The plan under investigation here is the NSA-alignment spine. The Pentagon Papers broke the official war story from inside. 9/11 was the surgical action that reset the board. Trump was part of that plan; it was never his private Plan. Q-Anon exploited the reality of that board and tainted it with debunkable exaggerations, so when the cabal cartoon collapses, serious inquiry into the actual alignment dies with it.

## Q-Anon — clearance brand as poison pill

Q-Anon began October 2017 on 4chan /pol as “Q Clearance Patriot,” then migrated 4chan → 8chan → 8kun. Thousands of authenticated drops followed; mainstream attribution points at operators whose identities remain disputed, not a courtroom finding. The brand merges real Q clearance authority with Anonymous chan culture — insider drip plus faceless crowd — so followers treat failed predictions as loyalty tests instead of falsifiers. Arrest calendars missed. Storm dates slid. What it sells is attention capture and faith in an unverifiable Plan.

That is the same divide-and-conquer as Flat Earth, aimed at political grievance instead of cosmology. Legitimate distrust of deep-state opacity gets welded to a cartoon that cameras love and affidavits cannot survive. When the face of “asking questions” is horned theater and drop hermeneutics, serious inquiry into compartmented Power and nuclear lies never gets a hearing. ## Scottsdale — Chansley, FOX 10, and the foiled association

On Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Scottsdale City Hall, roughly two hundred people turned out for “Unmask Us” — an anti-mask mandate rally. Daniel McCarthy, then a GOP Senate hopeful, spoke and framed the moment as resistance to communist insurrection ([azcentral](https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/scottsdale/2020/06/24/scottsdale-councilman-leads-protest-against-mask-mandates/3245724001/)). After he finished, Jacob Chansley — the man later branded the Q-Anon Shaman — emerged from the side of the grounds onto an empty grass patch between the crowd and speaker podium. Shirtless. Horned headdress. Face paint. A spear sign: “Q SENT ME.” He never joined the main crowd. He waited for the moment McCarthy signaled he was finished speaking. Then the Shaman began screaming.

What I remember from that morning is McCarthy’s face when Chansley started screaming: big grins, like the horns were amusing. He never once denounced the Q crew or the Flat Earth booth. One dedicated broadcast camera — FOX 10 on a tripod (FOX 10 sticker on the leg) — held Chansley as the continuous subject. Two masked FOX 10 crew faced him. Other TV crews nearby ran local interviews. Handheld phones circulated on the lawn. Chansley yelled loud enough that his voice carried over those other on-camera interviews. The lens was not just collecting horns. In the same field of view sat Republicans, mask protesters, the Daniel McCarthy campaign signs and trailer, and the Flat Earth booth from [Part I](https://paradigmthreat.net/cosmos/flat_earth/the-flat-earth-trance.md). They wanted a package that welded Q-Anon and Flat Earth onto the MAGA mask protest — and onto the MAGA movement at large.

The framing was the whole point. Nobody had to say a word for it to work. Put the horned man with the “Q sent me” sign in the same shot as a Senate campaign sign and a trailer with the candidate’s name on it, add people holding anti-mask placards, keep a Flat Earth display running on the same grass, and the picture does the argument by itself. Q-Anon and Flat Earth get welded onto the mask and later voter-fraud protests and onto the MAGA movement at large. One camera position, one composition, and every grievance in the frame inherits the costume.

I walked up — too close, in front of that FOX 10 lens — to spoil that association, not merely to interrupt a take. First I acted like I was listening curiously, then I signaled to the camera that he was crazy. He just ignored me and kept yelling. Then I got even closer. I looked into the camera and pointed at him while yelling **“Paid! Paid! Paid! money, money, money!”** He looked at me as if shocked, unsure how to respond. Then he looked down at my Sons of Anarchy shirt, then back toward the cameras, and said: “A man wearing sons of anarchy is saying I’m crazy.” He was not talking to me. He was still yelling at the lens — “Get the f*k out of here,” then “Anarchy has no place in the United States” and “Communism has no place in the United States.” 

There was nothing else to say, so I walked back toward Q supporters. One of them asked me why I just did that accusation. I said he's paid. I was asked how I know. I pointed at the Flat Earth PVC booth — they’re paid too. At the end of my roll, the same FOX 10 operator turns the camera away and packs it up while Chansley is still ranting. They did not wait for him to finish. The take died on that lawn: no clean adjacency, no agreeable crowd, a heckler in the middle of the shot. A crew can pack up early because it already has enough footage, because it is due somewhere else, or because it decided the man was unusable on his own. Nothing I have found rules those out. ### The second exchange

My second roll picks up a few minutes later while I'm still arguing with the same Q supporter. The argument goes nowhere and I decide to confront Chansley again. I walk away from the argument and back up to Chansley. He is still turned toward the few cameras that are left, and by this point there are no tripods on that lawn at all — just phones and handhelds. His crowd has thinned out badly and people are walking off.

He says "What's up, dude?" and his voice is wrecked. He has been yelling for a while and you can hear it. I tell him his buddies insulted me, harassed me, and threatened me with physical violence. I knew I was exaggerating, but the ruse worked. He says: "Buddies? I'm here alone." I tell him they are protecting him. He says "Who?" I point across the lawn — they're protecting you, right there. And he answers: "So, without my consent… on my behalf, without my knowledge." There was a broadcast camera dedicated to him, a Flat Earth booth on the same grass, a billboard behind the whole thing, and a set of aggressive Q supporters holding makeshift Q signs.

On my roll, about a minute thirty-five in, the man I had been arguing with walks up and stands beside Chansley. Chansley looks embarrassed staring at his 'without my consent' supporter. Then the man starts talking to Chansley about me — quiet enough that I can't hear the accusations — but talking to him the way you talk to someone you already know. This is seconds after Chansley told me he thought he was there alone. I've always known CO types to be paranoid about accusations of being 'part of a conspiracy' because accusing others of conspiracy is their main narrative tool.

So I asked him for the thing itself. I want to hear your Q. He starts: "Q is the highest levels of the military…" I ask him the only question that matters — what did Q ever leak? He starts to answer. "Q has leaked. Not only—". And the video ends there, mid-sentence. I turned the camera off to engage seriously with the Shaman.

### After my video

After I had asked what Q ever leaked. He went into time travel and the CIA — I do not have the exact wording memorized. I told him I don't believe in time travel. He looked defeated/tired. He didn't answer. Suddenly, he turned away and walked off. The situation around me erupted into a big argument between me and the Q supporters — from the outside it must have looked like I was about to be overwhelmed by Q-anon, however almost immediately they stopped arguing with me and started arguing with the other protesters who had been surrounding the fight. After a quick verbal exchange the FE/Q contingent seemed to vanish. There had always been far more ordinary protesters on that lawn than Q or Flat Earth people, and the two poison-pill crews were the ones leaving early. 

It may have been the close proximity of the police that spooked them off in the end. Or maybe they just looked like absolute fools after their leader abandoned them after failing to answer a simple question on Q leaks. I have a feeling that my accusation of Q supporters being in cahoots with Jacob and threatening me while police were present was probably the real reason he appeared to snap out of his Shaman funk and consider the situation enough to immediately leave it. The general plan for that day appears to be for protestors to fight each-other, not for a Shaman-backed conspiracy to attack protestors who aren't fighting back. Who knows! 

I stayed about another half hour. I never saw him on a lawn again — only later on television and in the papers. I would love to find a copy of this event on a camera other than mine. Everything that happened outside my videos was captured by many bystander videos (and Fox10!), but I do not have access to those copies (yet). After the Shaman/Q/FE supporters left, everyone put away their cameras and started packing too. 

What was left was a small group, ten or fifteen people, none of them Flat Earth or Q. They were confused by what the shaman had said. They asked why I did not believe his statements. I told them I believe some of what people like him say — I do not doubt that there are pedophiles in Congress and that they run the show. But I think he was a **paid controlled-opposition agent**, brought to that lawn to make all of us look bad. They seemed to understand what I meant.

They were in their forties and fifties and I was still in my thirties. What seemed to matter was that I was roughly about the same age as the rest of the real protest crowd, and I agreed with them on the mandates, the 'deep' state, the attempt to control everyone, while rejecting the way Flat Earthers and Q-Anon people insist on stamping their own messages onto an extremely fragile protest movement. They were happy that I had faith in Trump's plan while filtering out the Q narrative; no baby lost with anonymous bathwater. Looking back from here, that same protest movement did die within a few months. These containment methods were quite successful, alongside a CIA toolset of other coordinated methods to keep people away from protests by any means.

Most people around poison-pill crews are not paid. They are loyal, charged up, and sincere. Paid is a heavy accusation — almost impossible to prove, especially for faces like Chansley or McCarthy. Even when someone is paid, or more accurately **managed**, they tend to believe 100% in what they are and what they are doing. I believe Chansley is bipolar, and the exploitation of him works by getting his other pole to live out a fake reality as if it were the only one. Sponsorship still exists as infrastructure — one of the cleanest channels is a tax-exempt religious vehicle that takes deductible donations and puts people on protest lawns who make everybody else look bad. A woman finally asked me straight: so what do you believe then? Back then I had barely done the research it would take to say what I can say now, so I said I was totally pagan and left it there, with a little about history being a lie. But the answer I was reaching for was that it does not matter what I believe. It does not matter what she believed either. A controlled-opposition element was standing on that grass with a broadcast camera pointed at it, and it has to be accounted for before any of the rest of the argument is worth having. Whoever turns out to be right about masks or Congress, that element was in the frame, and leaving it out of the account is how the account gets discredited.

Someone from the campaign handed me a McCarthy sign after I said mine was stolen while I was fighting with the Shaman. The post-protest interaction ended in good vibes. Some of them appreciated that I had called Chansley out. It was clear he was ruining the legitimacy of the protest. I took the sign, got on my bike, and went home. That day I was a Son of Anarchy, and I hope I tilted things for the better.

### What I found reviewing the roll

Reviewing the roll later I noticed a second broadcast cameraman leaving toward the street. Two professional cameras gone in under four minutes; Chansley still in the headdress, still working the spear sign, with nothing on him but phones. If the first crew just wrapped an ordinary segment, the subject never stopped. The lawn was mostly empty by then — thin knots at the edges — but he kept going to somebody's phone.

Another I had never noticed at all: the police. Three or four officers off to the side of the lawn, some of them standing with their bikes. A few seconds later in the roll there are more of them, masked, posted along the grass slope, and not a TV rig anywhere in the shot. They are not in the frame on the first roll.

Police work a protest like that from the edges, and you do not notice them until they matter. What changed was the distance. They closed it when it started to look like there was going to be a fight between me and Chansley.

I think that is what some people on that lawn were waiting for. The Q supporters were aggressive and looking for a fight — talk about harassment, arguing over who had the right to do what, and following me around. Chansley was screaming. They wanted somebody to throw a punch or throw something, or to get angry enough at the things he was saying to make it physical, and to pull the police into it. A fair number of the cameras were there for the same thing.

It did not happen, and I think for two reasons. The picture was already spoiled — the crowd was plainly not on the shaman's side. And it became clear I was not going to supply the violence. I had gone at him twice, and the second time I asked him to explain Q, which is not a fight. I kept walking away from the taunts. I have been harassed enough in my life to know the shape of it, and the shape was a smokescreen: keep the exchange from going anywhere constructive.

### What June 24 cost them — and what it did not

I sabotaged **part** of the packaging — the Scottsdale legitimization shot. That morning was a staged weld of Q-Anon and Flat Earth onto a MAGA mask protest — and onto the MAGA movement at large: McCarthy headlining, campaign signs and trailer in frame, ordinary protesters on the lawn, and a dedicated FOX 10 camera holding Chansley as the continuous subject. That kind of outdoor composition is hard. It needs coordination, timing, cooperative local TV, real police on the edges, and ordinary protesters who do not walk into the shot. I did. The confrontation is on the roll; the FOX 10 operator packed up while Chansley was still ranting. I have not located any aired FOX 10 package welding Q-Anon to McCarthy’s Senate campaign after that morning ([open verification](https://paradigmthreat.net/governance/constitution/investigations/phoenix-protest-timeline-investigation.md#9-questions-to-clarify-verify-or-debunk)). 

The runbook kept going. McCarthy and Chansley continued appearing together at later Arizona protests — first the reopen / anti-mask circuit after Scottsdale, then the post-election voter-fraud circuit through November and December. Those later beats are a different class of stunt. June 24 was a fragile media composition — easy to spoil. Dec 3 and Jan 6 were occupy / breach products: once doors open and cameras are already on chaos, a heckler on a lawn cannot do much to disrupt it. They kept showing McCarthy and Chansley together. However, they never landed successful retry of the Scottsdale open-air protest TV stunt! What's that song? "With the lights out, it's less dangerous". No kidding! **Another Victory for BS Inc.**

### After Scottsdale — MCTEC, the dry run, Jan 6

Chansley was Phoenix-raised and, by 2020, living in Glendale with his mother. Press described him as often unemployed, with a failed acting push and a Backstage profile, after a short Navy hitch that ended years earlier ([azcentral](https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/2021/01/06/arizona-qanon-supporter-jake-angeli-joins-storming-us-capitol/6570514002/); [The Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/capitol-riot-jacob-angeli-chansley-qanon-trump-b1785089.html)). Through November and December 2020 he kept appearing at Arizona post-election protests challenging the vote count, often in the same rooms as Daniel McCarthy. Cronkite News photographed him at the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center (MCTEC) in horns and face paint with a “Q sent me” sign while ballots were still being processed; he also turned up at the Arizona Capitol and Executive Tower ([Cronkite News](https://cronkitenews.azpbs.org/2020/11/06/hundreds-gather-outside-maricopa-election-center-for-third-day-of-protests/)).

The beat that matters most came December 3, 2020 — a little over a month before January 6. On his own rally video that morning, McCarthy told roughly fifty supporters this was “your new office now” and “an occupy situation.” When pizza delivery opened the west-end sliding doors at the Arizona House of Representatives, the crowd ran across the plaza into the lobby before security could close them, bypassing the metal detectors at the real entrance ([Andrew Wilder](https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-investigations/2021/02/02/jake-angeli-other-trump-fans-rushed-arizona-capitol-month-before-jan-6/4349283001/), R-House spokesperson).

Inside the lobby McCarthy livestreamed on Facebook and urged followers to come. He pointed his phone camera at the people who had rushed in, and put Chansley on the stream — horns, face paint, full costume — telling McCarthy’s audience “Now is the window of opportunity… hero or a zero… traitor or a liberator?” The man I had called paid on McCarthy’s lawn in June was on McCarthy’s feed from inside an occupied state building. Press treated the day as a dress rehearsal for Washington ([azcentral](https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-investigations/2021/02/02/jake-angeli-other-trump-fans-rushed-arizona-capitol-month-before-jan-6/4349283001/)). January 6, 2021 made the costume national and showed what the horns were really for: a face welded to every adjacent question about elections, deep state, and Power.

## McCarthy — staging, not sloppy headliner

After Scottsdale I started to suspect McCarthy himself. All of it was happening at his event — the Q presence, the horns on a television beat, the Flat Earth booth, the Q supporters angling for fights. He grinned at the horns, kept Chansley in the frame, and later put him on a Facebook livestream from inside an occupied state building. December 3 made the conspiracy undeniable. McCarthy and Chansley faced zero personal legal consequences while two others were booked for trespass ([Phoenix investigation](https://paradigmthreat.net/governance/constitution/investigations/phoenix-protest-timeline-investigation.md#dec-3-legal-consequences--mccarthy-untouched-a20)). It must be concluded that McCarthy and Chansley were operating together — proof of function indistinguishable from controlled opposition at maximum severity short of Jan 6 itself.

In the middle of 2020 there was a real hunger for a Republican willing to say *communism* out loud. McCarthy said it — mask mandates as communist insurrection, in the local paper. So ask the question from the other side of the table: if you were choosing which man gets to carry that word into a protest, why would you not choose one whose surname is already welded to the overreaching and delusional persecution of communism?

*McCarthyism* does not mean opposing communism. It means accusing people of treason without caring much about evidence. Joseph McCarthy never produced his list; his chamber condemned him; he was dead at forty-eight three years later. That is the association Daniel McCarthy brings to a stage before he opens his mouth — the same trick as the horns and the Flat Earth billboard, except the poison pill is the candidate's name. I have not found any family connection between the two McCarthys, nor do I need one; the argument is about what a name already means to a listener.

He faded afterward. In August 2020 he lost the Arizona GOP Senate primary to Martha McSally by roughly 370,000 votes. In February 2021 he filed a $120 million defamation suit against talk-radio host James T. Harris and iHeartRadio over commentary on a November 2020 Capitol rally; the Arizona Supreme Court dismissed it unanimously on April 14, 2023 as protected political speech. In January 2022 he staged a flamethrower stunt over a MAGA hat and a $1 million debate challenge to Trump, with Chansley’s legal defense fund listed among the charity options. Then nothing comparable. A tool that had been used up and put down, still trying to get back on a stage that was no longer being offered. ### Jan 6 — what the record shows

Jan 6 had to be sold as a MAGA / Trump insurrection to a public that was not in the building. The Capitol was overrun on camera by the same actor class that surrounded Chansley at the Arizona House lobby and on McCarthy’s lawns. Costumed Q fixtures were in the frame. Militia-adjacent vanguards set the timing. Professional rabble filled the shot. Chansley was among the first ~30 through a Senate-wing door; DOJ wrote he “quite literally spearheaded it.” Proud Boys and Oath Keepers led the vanguard timing documented elsewhere.

### Jan 6 was an insurrection — not MAGA’s

January 6 was an insurrection of the United States Capitol. It was not a MAGA insurrection and it was not Trump’s. This reading already treats *The Dark Knight* as NSA-aligned ([Everything Burns](https://paradigmthreat.net/influence/hollywood/everything-burns.md)). I find it incredible; a controlled-opposition face whose whole job was to poison MAGA and Q, then filing a public brief that paints the NSA as the thief, the spy, and the catfish, reads like a raw admission that he is on the CIA’s side of the two-camp war — and like recruitment material aimed at youth who already distrust the deep state but have not sorted which camp is which. The suit itself is still shock-value brand. The target choice is the tell. The court dismissed it in December 2025; he refiled in February 2026. It was a desperate attempt to reinvigorate depleted Q support without the national camera weld Jan 6 supplied.
