## Claim

Heribert Illig's "phantom time" (297 years, 614–911 CE) and Fomenko's ~1053-year duplication are not necessarily in conflict: Illig's gap may be a subset of Fomenko's, or they may target different mechanisms (calendar insertion vs. chronicle duplication). Clarifying the relationship improves timeline consistency.

## Methodology

- Summarize Illig's evidence (archaeology, astronomy, calendar) for 614–911 as fabricated.
- Summarize Fomenko's mechanism (chronicle copies shifted 333, 1053, 1800 years).
- Determine whether 614–911 falls inside Fomenko's duplicated period or overlaps with "real" medieval events in Fomenko's scheme.

## Findings

### Paschal “Nicaea” (877) vs Illig gap (614–911)

**Fomenko–Nosovskiy** (Nosovskiy, *How It Was* [Ch.7 §34](https://chronologia.org/en/how_it_was/07_34.html); timeline: [877 CE — Paschal calendar / Council of Nicaea redated](https://paradigmthreat.net/timeline/evt-877-ce-paschal-calendar-council-of-nicaea-redated)) argue the **paschal calendar (Computus)** could not have been fixed at a **4th-century** Council of Nicaea; astronomical bounds place the **best fit at 877 CE**, with a hard **not-before-784** rule (Christian Easter vs Jewish Passover coincidence).

**Overlap:** Illig’s **614–911** bracket **contains** Fomenko’s **877** paschal anchor and much of the **X–XI century** apparatus (writing, Computus, *Almagest* class astronomy). They are **not mutually exclusive** if read as different probes of the same medieval fabrication layer: Illig stresses **archaeological/calendar phantom time** in early Middle Ages; Fomenko’s paschal argument is an **independent astronomical clock** on Easter rules.

**Non-overlap / caution:** Illig does **not** require Fomenko’s **1152/1185 Christ** or **Rus–Horde** identifications. Fomenko’s **1053-year ι→AD shift** is a **separate** mechanism from Illig’s **297-year** gap — nested, parallel, or partially redundant depending on which copies each targets. **No merged single table is canonical in-repo yet.**
