# Q6 — “They’ll make peace if America leaves the region forever”

## The argument (mainstream / TDS-shaped)

Iran is offering peace. An adviser to the Supreme Leader says foreign forces must leave. The Strait reopens if Washington stops threatening Tehran, pays reparations, lifts sanctions, and **pulls U.S. naval and air forces out of the region**. A deal with **Oman** on shipping lanes shows Tehran can work with neighbors. Refusing that package means America wants permanent occupation / endless war. Trump / Rubio “leave behind” talk is just warmongering.

## What the frame leaves out

- The **conventional** campaign already **banked** launch-cycle and navy exposure goals before this ransom note ([war runner](../investigations/iran-2026-war-runner.md)).
- **Oman lane talks ≠ full Hormuz reopen** — Araghchi/IRGC say the mini-deal does not reopen without U.S. concessions ([Al Jazeera Aug 8](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/8/8/iran-deliberates-hormuz-arrangement-amid-uncertain-prospects-with-us)).
- SNSC **six conditions** explicitly include **U.S. force withdrawal** from around Iran plus Axis-of-Resistance ceasefire language ([Tehran Times](https://www.tehrantimes.com/news/528962/Iran-sets-six-conditions-for-reopening-the-Strait-of-Hormuz)).
- Rubio’s May 5 line names the **post-withdrawal** board: nuclear Iran closes the strait and dares the world ([Mission Accomplished — Rubio](../mission-accomplished-again-iran-2026.md)).
- Fiction grammar (optional): Mouth of Sauron at the Black Gate — spare the little player, make “peace,” if the army outside **never returns**; the enemy also **overlooks the protagonists’ air support** (Eagles in the book / banked Epic Fury air on the live board) ([Installment III](../islamabad-peace-deal-the-war-nobody-cares-about-2026.md#black-gate-august-2026--mouth-of-sauron-at-hormuz)).

## Response

Treat “peace if you leave forever” as **one scoreboard** — the **ransom board**. It is designed to sound like sovereignty while restoring the **leave-behind** geometry the strike campaign interrupted.

**Complicated reality:**

1. **Withdrawal as reopen price** is not “ending occupation of Iran.” It is trading **strait leverage** for **emptying the Gate** so latency and blackmail can mature without a carrier group in the photograph.

2. **Oman** is the polite face — a smaller regional player offered a corridor arrangement while the emissary’s real terms target the **U.S. force posture**. That split is explicit in Iranian messaging the same day.

3. **Rubio leave-behind** is the refusal criterion: a deal that recreates *“If Iran had a nuclear weapon, they'd close the strait…”* is not peace; it is deferred blackmail. Short cite: *“the world none of us want to leave behind”* (May 5, 2026).

4. **Mojtaba proof-of-life video** the same week does not settle enrichment or Hormuz. It settles rumor management while intermediaries speak for an unseen command.

5. **Black Gate hinge (author):** This is the book’s **most desperate** moment — neither army knows what to do until leadership **refuses the deal and prepares to attack**. History turns on manipulating that leadership or on the moment it **resists**; without it both sides collapse. Iran’s “strong hand” is largely **media/movie training** that they were right and we were wrong. Behind the Gate the leadership hand is **weak** (nervous army). Outside, the force **looked** desperate while the enemy **overlooked** major **air support** — the **Eagles** in the book; the banked Epic Fury air/strike ledger vs ransom theater ([Installment III — desperate hinge](../islamabad-peace-deal-the-war-nobody-cares-about-2026.md#the-desperate-hinge--leadership-media-inversion-overlooked-air)).

**TDS tell:** when the only vocabulary is “just leave them alone” plus Oman goodwill, with **zero** engagement on **Hormuz blackmail**, **HEU**, **why Epic Fury happened**, or the **overlooked air** scoreboard, the argument is presentation — black **warmonger** vs gray **refuse Mouth-of-Sauron terms after banking the conventional fight**.
